Experienced Manager, Cyber
About the role
The Experienced Manager, Cyber is a consulting leader for the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity implementation. This consulting leader leverages experience in both AI approaches and tools and security to build confidence with customers. This role also coordinates all aspects of a project, and ensures risk is managed, mitigated, or escalated as quickly as possible.
Responsibilities
- Supports practice development in the areas of cybersecurity of AI, across Microsoft AI offerings
- Contributes to BDO’s thought leadership and marketing materials on security services for AI projects, with a focus on Microsoft-first AI approaches
- Understands client needs to develop project plans, resource plans, establishes reporting and metrics, and provides the client with regular updates
- Manages day-to-day project requirements, as well as on-site and/or remote team
- Participates and conducts business unit, legal, IT, privacy and/or governance interviews and meetings
- Covers all aspects of a project, and ensures risk is managed, mitigated, or escalated as quickly as possible
- Reviews and edits policies, processes, workflows, and work instructions to align them with industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO, GLBA, GDRP)
- Collects data, coordinates use of software and develops data maps that identify data flow and storage locations of sensitive data sources
- Conducts research on Cyber software and capabilities to provide clients with solutions that improve their compliance, risk management and governance functions
- Works with BDO Channel Partners to develop statements of works, proposals, and RFP responses to integrate products and services
- Manages project teams to ensure client projects are delivered on time and budget
- Acts as a contact for client questions and inquires
- Develops and/or edits client reports with minimal oversight
- Manages and validates the quality of client deliverables
- Supports the development of RFI’s and RFP’s, as well as subject matter expert presentations and proposals
- Other duties as required
Requirements
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises the workload of Senior Associates and Associates on assigned engagements and reviews work product, as needed. Ensures Senior Associates and Associates are trained on all relevant software, practice tools and processes. Evaluates the performance of Senior Associates and Associates, and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development. Delivers periodic performance feedback, and completes performance evaluations for Senior Associates and Associates in accordance with Firm guidance. Acts as mentor to Senior Associates and Associates, as appropriate. Acts as a leader, and projects a professional, positive attitude toward client and firm personnel.
Qualifications
- High School or GED Equivalent, required
- Bachelor’s degree, preferred; focus in Computer Science, Information Assurance or Information Governance, preferred
- Six (6) or more years of consulting experience, required
- Three (3) or more years of experience managing large, complex projects including budget, scope and deliverables, required
- Five (5) or more years of information security experience, required
- Experience with securing systems including machine learning, Azure Cognitive services, Azure AI services, or Microsoft Copilot, preferred
- A Major information security certification (CISA, CISM, CGEIT, CCISO, CCSP, CISSP, or GIAC certifications etc.), preferred
- Software Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Office 365, OneDrive, SharePoint and Visio, preferred
- Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft PowerPoint skills, preferred
- Knowledge and/or experience with Microsoft security products, including Defender, Purview, Entra, and similar, preferred
