Experienced Equipment Operator I - Caballo

About the role

This position is responsible for the operation of open cut mine equipment to facilitate the production of coal. The role involves safely operating a variety of heavy equipment and haul trucks utilized in the mining industry, completing pre-operational inspections, conducting safety interactions, and ensuring productive and efficient skilled operations of assigned equipment.

Responsibilities

• Visibly support and champion Peabody's Mission and Values
• Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System
• Inspect and service equipment, including pre-start inspection of equipment and work environment
• Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental, and statutory requirements
• Operate any combination of the following equipment:
  • Haul Trucks (190 or larger)
  • Scrapers (627 or larger)
  • Dozers (D9 or larger)
  • Rubber Tire Dozers (824 or larger)
  • Blades (14G or larger)
• Preferred experience operating:
  • Loaders (988 or larger)
  • Drills (single pass, DMM2, DMM3, or PV275)
  • Shovels
• Conduct safety observations and complete safety interactions monthly
• Perform other duties as assigned by the company

Requirements

• High School Degree or GED Equivalent required
• 3-5 years of preferred experience

Physical Requirements

• Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
• Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
• Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps, and climb on/off equipment and ladders
• Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
• Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand-to-eye coordination
• Must have the ability to lift/raise 10–50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
• Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to:
  • Changing weather conditions
  • Dust, mud
  • Varying levels of noise from low to high decibels
  • Varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light
  • Confined work areas
• Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening, and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends, and holidays)
