About the Role
CMT Technical Services is seeking an experienced Construction Materials Field Technician to support construction projects throughout the Denver, Colorado area. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional who enjoys working outdoors, performing field testing, and ensuring construction materials meet project specifications and quality standards.
What You'll Be Doing
- Perform routine field testing of construction materials to verify compliance with project plans and specifications
- Conduct field tests on materials including: Fresh concrete (slump, air, temperature, cylinders); Soil compaction and density testing; Aggregate sampling and observation
- Accurately document test results and complete daily reports and datasheets
- Communicate professionally with contractors, project managers, inspectors, and internal teams
- Maintain and safely operate testing equipment in accordance with company procedures
- Support additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor based on project needs
What You Have
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 2+ years of construction materials testing experience in the field
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and clean MVR
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate reporting
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and basic computer reporting tools
- Ability to pass a drug screening and background check
Preferred Certification(s)
Required or ability to obtain shortly after hire:
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
- WAQTC In-Place Density Certification (commonly required for Colorado/CDOT projects)
Preferred:
- WAQTC Embankment & Base
- ACI Strength Testing Technician
- NICET Construction Materials Testing (Soils, Concrete, or Asphalt – Level I or II)
- Nuclear Gauge Safety / Radiation Safety Training
What Will Make You Stand Out

- Strong knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO field testing procedures
- Additional certifications beyond minimum requirements

$24-32/hour (DOE)
