About the Role

SRNS is seeking to hire Experienced Electrical Engineers to fill I&C Electrical Engineers and High Voltage Power System Distribution Engineers roles. Selected candidates will report to the Facilities & Systems Engineering (F&SE) Organization or the Design Engineering (DE) Organization and will work on various projects at SRS. These engineers will be responsible for leadership roles in planning, design, procurement, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems.

Responsibilities

I&C Electrical Engineer Responsibilities Include:

  • Knowledge of national codes and standards, such as NFPA, IEEE, NEMA, ANSI, and IES/ISA.
  • Engineering analysis, construction support, walkdowns, design development, and generation of design output documents including but not limited to:
    • Single Line Drawings
    • Electrical Equipment Lists
    • Control System Design
    • Control Schematics and Connection Diagrams
    • Electrical Equipment Specifications
    • Bulk Material Specifications
    • Circuit/Raceway/Wiring/Connection Design
    • Grounding
    • Heat Tracing
    • Fire Detection
    • Short Circuit Calculations
    • Arc Flash Incident Energy Analysis
    • Load Flow Analysis
    • Electrical System Sizing Calculations

High Voltage Power System Distribution Engineer Responsibilities Include:

  • Knowledge of distribution systems with voltages ranging from 120V to 13.8kV, transformers, and switchgear.
  • Knowledge of electrical National Codes and Standards such as NFPA 70/70E and IEEE.
  • Electrical system protection, coordination curves, load studies, and arc flash analysis.
  • Hands-on electrical design validation and verification experience.
  • Low and medium voltage experience developing system repair designs, system calibration, and installation plans.
  • Experience in low to medium voltage industrial power systems with voltage of 480V through 13.8kV.
  • Experience providing oversight, design, planning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of low and medium voltage systems infrastructure such as:
    • Distribution cables
    • Control systems
    • Protective relaying
    • Transformers
    • Switchgear
    • Substations
    • Breakers
    • Motor control centers
    • Alarms
    • Overall system coordination
  • Experience performing modeling and simulation for power systems and short circuit analysis using simulation software platforms (e.g., ETAP).
  • Lighting design, uninterruptible power systems, vessel heaters and heat trace, lockout/tagout, relay control systems, variable speed drives, diesel generators and automatic transfer switches, harmonics, and their effects on electrical systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering plus at least five years of experience (YOE) in a relevant role, OR
  • Master's degree in relevant field plus at least two years of experience (YOE), OR
  • Doctoral degree in relevant field.

Qualifications

We'd also like to see:

  • Master or PhD degree in applicable science or engineering discipline.
  • Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles, and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications.

Security Clearance

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance. Clearance required to perform job: L, Q.

Pay

Salary Range: $87,444 - $122,640. This is the range within which SRNS expects the majority of qualified candidates would enter this role if offered. Actual offers may be more or less than the amounts shown depending on candidate’s qualifications, experience, internal equity, and other factors.
