Experienced Consultant, M&A (Healthcare & Life Sciences)
About the role
West Monroe's Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Practice is seeking an Experienced Consultant to join our growing Healthcare & Life Sciences Value Creation team. This role involves working alongside a national team serving corporate and private equity clients investing in or operating software, services, and technology-enabled services businesses across the payer, provider, and life sciences sectors.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with clients and portfolio companies to assess how technology supports business operations, creates enterprise value, and enables growth while identifying opportunities for improvement and potential investment risks.
- Prepare for and participate in management interviews and workshops to understand business models, strategic priorities, operational challenges, and technology initiatives.
- Develop client-ready communications and presentations that facilitate decision-making, communicate project status, identify risks, and recommend actionable solutions.
- Contribute to key project deliverables including technology due diligence reports, assessments, implementation roadmaps, communication plans, project plans, and financial analyses.
- Partner closely with engagement leadership to proactively identify, communicate, and mitigate project risks.
- Collaborate effectively with West Monroe team members and client stakeholders to establish high-performing project teams.
- Evaluate client and target company capabilities against Healthcare & Life Sciences industry leading practices.
- Take ownership of assigned workstreams and deliverables, ensuring quality, completeness, and accuracy.
- Build relationships with stakeholders across all levels of client and target organizations.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesize complex information, and support data-driven recommendations for clients, exercising sound judgment in evaluating outputs.
- Apply AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, data models) to enhance insights, improve delivery efficiency, and elevate the quality of client outcomes.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent professional experience. 2+ years of experience in consulting or team-based roles across at least two of the following areas: Healthcare, Healthcare IT, Mergers & Acquisitions, or Corporate Development. Experience working with payer, provider, life sciences, healthcare software, or healthcare technology organizations. Interest in healthcare economics, reimbursement models, healthcare policy, regulatory trends, healthcare technology, and interoperability. Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze and interpret financial statements, including key healthcare and technology business drivers. Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely. Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs. Ability to travel up to 50%. Travel is typically 1–2 days on-site for diligence engagements and may increase to 50-75% during post-close engagement work.

Pay
The salary range for this role can vary based on your proximity to one of our West Monroe offices (see table below).
