Experienced Clinical Nurse - Leukemia

About the role

Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating, and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care in G16 Leukemia, a specialized inpatient unit providing comprehensive care for patients with hematologic malignancies, including leukemia. Hematology patients are hospitalized for supportive care during active, aggressive high-dose chemotherapy/biotherapy and cellular therapy through a wide range of morbidity-related symptoms, as well as re-hospitalization for treatment side effects. Leukemia care includes diagnosis, induction, consolidation, maintenance chemotherapy, symptom management, and salvage therapies for relapsed disease.

Collaborates with physicians, other services, patients, and their families to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies and participates in data collection for current studies. Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures, and managing emergencies. Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from computer systems. Ensures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education, and coordination of services. Acts as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights. Trains, coaches, and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
• At least twelve months of recent RN experience in medical/surgical or an acute care setting.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS or PALS as required by patient care area.
• Available to work Day/Evening shift (7am - 7pm) or Evening/Night shift (7pm - 7am) with rotating weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
• Certification in oncology or other nursing specialty (preferred).

Pay

Hourly salary range: Minimum $32.70, Midpoint $50.00, Maximum $67.30. Annual salary range: $68,000 – $142,500.

Nurses will earn up to $8,320 in annual department-based differentials for all inpatient units. Relocation assistance of up to $10,000 is available for clinical nurses relocating from 100+ miles away.

Schedule

• Three 12-hour shifts per week (minimum 1872 hours per year).
• Day/Evening shift (7am - 7pm) or Evening/Night shift (7pm - 7am).
• Rotating weekends and holidays required.
