About the role
The Auto Glass Technician plays a crucial role at Safelite, focusing on vehicle glass repair and replacement services. They also handle recalibrations and diagnostics, operate Safelite tools and technologies, and interact with customers.
Responsibilities
- Provide all vehicle glass repair and replacement services at Safelite Shops or Mobile Glass Shops.
- Clean customer vehicles after every job.
- Recalibrate automotive safety systems, including troubleshooting and diagnostic testing.
- Proficiently operate Safelite’s tools and technologies, such as True Seal®, Ezi-Wire™, Glass Table System (GTS), chemicals, work order systems, and MRM technology.
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles.
- Communicate with customers in-person, via text, and on the phone; promote and sell Safelite promotional items and services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and any other required licenses.
- Required Safelite SafeTech™ certification.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Standing for extended periods, working in tight spaces, bending, twisting, and operating various hand and power tools.
- Operating a motor vehicle safely and effectively.
- Using computerized diagnostic tools for recalibrations and troubleshooting.
- Reading, writing, and interpreting the English language and technical directions.
- Communicating orally and written, maintaining a professional appearance, and adhering to Company uniform and PPE policies.
- Working with chemicals as required by the “Safelite Way of Fitting”.
- Working scheduled days with flexibility on start and end times.
- Problem-solving and ability to troubleshoot issues independently and collaboratively.
- Maintaining professionalism and passion for providing outstanding customer service and exceeding customer expectations.
- Working outside in various weather conditions and temperatures.
- Operating Safelite’s tools and technologies, including True Seal®, Ezi-Wire™, Glass Table System (GTS), chemicals, work order systems, and MRM technology.
- Operating Safelite’s handheld Mobile Resource Management (MRM) technology.
- Willingness and ability to maintain stable performance under professional or personal pressure and opposition.
