About the role
The Auto Glass Technician plays a crucial role at Safelite, focusing on vehicle glass repair and replacement services. They leverage Safelite's training, tools, and technology to provide efficient, safe, and high-quality services both in shops and mobile settings.
Responsibilities
- Provide all vehicle glass repair and replacement services in a safe, efficient, and customer-focused manner.
- Clean customer vehicles after each job.
- Recalibrate automotive safety systems, including troubleshooting and diagnostic testing.
- Proficiently operate Safelite's tools and technologies, such as True Seal®, Ezi-Wire™, Glass Table System (GTS), chemicals, work order systems, and MRM technology.
- Safely operate company and customer vehicles throughout the workday.
- Communicate with customers in-person, via text, and on the phone; promote and sell Safelite products and services.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Valid state-issued driver’s license and any other required licenses.
- Required Safelite SafeTech™ certification.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, work in tight spaces, and use various hand and power tools.
- Proficiency in operating Safelite's diagnostic tools and software.
- Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate customer needs.
- Professionalism, excellent customer service skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions and temperatures.
- Read, write, and interpret the English language and technical directions.
- Willingness to maintain a professional appearance and adhere to company uniform and PPE policies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Preferred: Relevant industry experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Standing for extended periods, working in tight spaces, bending, twisting, and using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Operating Safelite's tools and technologies safely and effectively.
- Proficiency in using computerized diagnostic tools.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work with chemicals as required by the "Safelite Way of Fitting."
- Professional appearance and adherence to company uniform and PPE policies.
- Willingness to maintain stable performance under pressure.
