Experienced Associate Consultant

About the role

Associate Consultants (ACs) are integral members of Bridgespan’s consulting teams, partnering with colleagues at all levels to analyze complex issues, develop evidence-based insights, and support recommendations that help clients achieve greater impact. ACs follow a 50-50 staffing model, working on two projects at a time with different teams. Projects span a wide range of topics, including education, public health, and criminal justice, and involve clients such as philanthropists, nonprofits, and impact investors.

Associate Consultants work 50-55 hours per week on average, with travel required 1-2 times per month depending on project needs.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate complex business challenges using hypothesis-driven problem solving to develop insights that shape decisions
• Conduct qualitative analysis through interviews with client stakeholders and quantitative analysis such as financial modeling and projections
• Develop data-driven recommendations and prepare clear, compelling client materials, including PowerPoint presentations and Excel models
• Adapt to evolving project needs by incorporating feedback and delivering high-quality work in a deadline-driven environment

ACs receive formalized training, beginning with an extensive orientation program and continuing with skill-building sessions as they progress. Bridgespan invests in helping each Associate Consultant develop the fundamentals of a successful career, including problem-solving, client communication, and collaboration with experienced team members.

Requirements

• 18+ months of strategy or management consulting experience at a consulting firm
• Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic background
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to apply a lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in analysis
• Highly self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Commitment to teamwork and the nonprofit sector

Pay

• Associate Consultant II: $87,000
• Senior Associate Consultant: $105,000
• Consultant I: $148,000

Schedule

Associate Consultants work 50-55 hours per week on average, with variations based on client needs. Travel is required 1-2 times per month.

Location

Candidates must be local to or willing to relocate to the Boston office. All staff are expected to work from a Bridgespan office at least 2 days per week to facilitate mentorship and relationship-building. Bridgespan is unable to sponsor visas for roles in U.S. offices.
