About the Role

Our Specialized Tax Services (“STS”) Business Incentives Group (“BIG”) business has doubled in the last three years and tripled in the last six. As a Tax Experienced Associate in the Business Incentives Group, you will help achieve BDO’s core purpose—helping people thrive every day—by assisting companies and individuals identify and claim government incentives designed to promote innovation and economic and job growth in the U.S.

Our clients are leaders in innovation across industries such as technology, manufacturing, life sciences, healthcare, retail, consumer products, and natural resources. You will collaborate with BDO professionals across business lines and with clients’ innovation leaders in tax, accounting, finance, engineering, software, manufacturing, scientific, medical, and other BIG-related departments.

STS BIG’s short-term mission is to help clients efficiently and effectively identify, document, and support BIG-related incentives. Long-term, we aim to become trusted advisors by understanding clients’ businesses and goals. This role also supports your growth into a trusted advisor through training and opportunities in technical, interpersonal, communication, project management, and business development skills.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively assist in the execution of multiple client engagements.
  • Collaborate with STS BIG team members to innovate and improve strategies and processes for services and marketing.
  • Establish effective working relationships with STS BIG team members, clients, and other BDO professionals.
  • Contribute to the development of personal and team technical acumen and market prominence.
  • Stay updated on local and national business and economic issues.
  • Actively participate in business development to expand your professional network and identify opportunities for new and existing clients.
  • Contribute to and enhance the culture of STS BIG, local offices, and BDO as a globally leading professional services firm.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (required); focus in Accounting, Tax, or Finance (preferred).
  • One (1) or more years of prior related experience (required).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (preferred).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to work independently within a team environment with a customer service focus.
  • Superior organizational and project management skills, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong initiative and drive to lead while seeking opportunities to enhance and grow the BIG practice.

Pay

Individual salaries are determined based on qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

  • National Range: $63,000 - $115,500
  • Maryland Range: $63,000 - $115,500
  • NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $63,000 - $115,500
