Expeditor

About the role

The expeditor coordinates and executes the delivery of merchandise, equipment, and supplies to follow a production schedule. They also receive purchase orders from the Purchasing Department, inspect materials for serviceability, and prepare and package materials for shipment.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and verifies purchase orders for accuracy and shipping/delivery instructions.
• Retrieves materials from local vendors and inspects them for serviceability, quantity, size, and Made in the USA requirements.
• Packages materials for air, barge, or truck shipment to various locations in Alaska.
• Maintains safety standards by ensuring all personnel using equipment in materials yards are wearing required PPE and operating according to UOSS Safety Policy.
• Identifies and coordinates hazardous cargo dangerous goods certification and packaging with shipping vendors.
• Prepares and ensures accurate Airway Bills and Bills of Lading with correct shipping addresses, point of contacts, shipping codes, signatures, purchase order numbers, and lot numbers.
• Retrieves, inspects, and delivers vendor-distributed materials to Anchorage job sites.

• Requirements

  • A Class A – Commercial Driver’s License, preferred.
  • The willingness to be trained and handle constructive feedback professionally.
  • A Department of Transportation Medical Card.
  • A Transportation Workers Identification Card.
  • Forklift Certification (preferred).
  • A Clean Driving Record.
  • Basic Computer Skills.

  Qualifications

  • High School Diploma.

  Skills

  • Fast learner.
  • Enjoys a challenge in a fast-paced environment.
  • Preforms basic Excel work and utilizes email.
