About the role
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
Responsibilities
- Work across programmatic and technical projects in AI/ML research in astrobiology
- Drive the development of an online community resource hosted at NASA Ames
- Coordinate across NASA’s data ecosystem
- Liaise with program officers
- Create collaborations
- Solicit innovative approaches to address future AI/ML needs of astrobiology and NASA’s science programs
- Contribute to ongoing studies of biomarkers and novel techniques in instrumentation
- Participate in the design and proposal of projects
- Collaborate on cross-cutting efforts in astrobiology at NASA Ames
Requirements
- Doctoral degree
- U.S. Citizenship, U.S. Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR), Foreign Nationals eligible for an Exchange Visitor J-1 visa status, or Applicants for LPR, asylees, or refugees in the U.S. at the time of application with a valid EAD card and I-485 or I-589 forms in pending status
- Designated Country eligibility restrictions apply
Qualifications
- Excellent skills in coordinating across NASA’s data ecosystem
- Strong ability to liaise with program officers
- Experience in creating collaborations
- Innovative approach to addressing future AI/ML needs of astrobiology and NASA’s science programs
- Knowledge of biomarkers and novel techniques in instrumentation
- Ability to participate in project design and proposal
- Experience in cross-cutting efforts in astrobiology at NASA Ames
