Job Summary

Evaluates cardiac patients, plans and implements a cardiac rehabilitation program. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned. This position may qualify for a sign-on bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills required for EKG interpretation, taking and monitoring blood pressure, heart rate, pulse oximetry and fitness equipment
  • Administers appropriate treatments to patients
  • Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory guidelines (AACVPR), best practices and standard Cardiac Rehabilitation care
  • Fosters communication with nurses, doctors, patients and families and other hospital personnel to establish department rapport
  • Provides instruction and supervision to student interns and volunteers as well as input for performance appraisals
  • Maintains timely and accurate medical records
  • Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
  • Maintains safe environment
  • Addresses patient population-specific needs
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Physiology or related field from an accredited college or university
  • 12 week internship in cardiac rehabilitation
  • Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire
  • AHA ACLS must be completed within 60 days of hire or transfer into role

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years experience with exercise prescription in a clinical setting
  • American College of Sports Medicine – Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification
