About the role

Massie Manufacturing is seeking an Executive Vice President to lead their team in Baraga, Michigan. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in manufacturing leadership, a strong operational focus, and a strategic mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day operations across production, supply chain, quality, equipment, people, and performance.
  • Own the P&L mindset, including cost control, resource planning, capital equipment decisions, and profitability improvement.
  • Build a practical, accountable, safety-first culture from the shop floor to leadership.
  • Mentor managers, develop future leaders, and help experienced team members and newer talent work well together.
  • Improve throughput, reduce waste, solve bottlenecks, and bring structure where it helps.
  • Support modernization, capacity planning, facility improvement, and potential acquisition integration.
  • Help maintain, secure, and grow defense-related work by supporting compliance, customer confidence, and operational readiness.
  • Stay close enough to the floor to understand what is really happening — and strategic enough to help steer what comes next.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, such as Plant Manager, Director of Operations, VP of Manufacturing, or similar.
  • Exposure to defense manufacturing or government supply chains, either as a prime contractor or a Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier is highly favored.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations, or a related field is preferred; an MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Hands-on manufacturing leadership matters most.
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial equipment, fabrication, machining, production flow, quality systems, and manufacturing capacity.
  • Experience leading teams through growth, change, process improvement, or operational turnaround.
  • A practical understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methods.
  • Familiarity with compliance environments such as ITAR, EAR, ISO 9001:2015, NIST SP 800-171, or CMMC 2.0 is strongly preferred.
  • Strong financial and analytical judgment, especially around pricing, margins, capital investment, and operational performance.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with machinists, welders, managers, owners, customers, and government buyers.
  • U.S. citizenship required, along with the ability to obtain a government security clearance, if required by future contractual obligations.
