About the Role
Working at Target means helping all families discover the joy of everyday life. As a Specialty Sales Executive Team Leader, you will lead a team of specialized consultants in Apparel & Accessories (A&A), Beauty, and Electronics. Your role involves active selling, visual merchandising, and ensuring product availability while prioritizing guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Drive total store sales and contribute to profitability by managing department-specific goals.
- Create a guest-obsessed culture and lead your team to prioritize guest experience and sales growth.
- Adjust schedules to align with guest traffic and business needs, including early mornings, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
- Plan and manage merchandising, pricing, transitions, sales plans, sampling, and promotions.
- Assess competitors and leverage guest insights to drive business objectives.
- Lead backroom processes, organization, and replenishment to ensure product availability.
- Deliver inspiring visual merchandising in A&A, Home, Baby, and seasonal areas.
- Use fitting rooms as an extension of the sales floor to enhance guest experience.
- Manage organizational and operational change, anticipating staffing and talent needs.
- Recruit, develop, and coach team members and leaders to elevate skills and expertise.
- Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
- Address store needs, including emergencies and regulatory visits, while ensuring safety and compliance.
- Follow all safe and secure training processes as a key carrier.
Requirements
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and cognitive skills.
- Strong business acumen and comfort dealing with ambiguity.
- Ability to manage conflict, lead teams, and hold others accountable.
- Experience in problem analysis, decision-making, and financial/quantitative analysis.
- Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
- Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
- Accurately handle cash register operations.
- Climb up and down ladders.
- Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; regular attendance is necessary.
Skills
- Experience building and managing a guest-first culture.
- Knowledge of retail business fundamentals, including sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing, and promotions.
- Ability to set and plan department workloads to support business priorities and manage teams to deliver sales goals.
- Experience managing hourly team members and leaders, creating business-specific strategies and goals.
- Skills in recruiting, selecting, and talent management.
