As a Service & Engagement Executive Team Leader, you will build and lead a team focused on guest experience, service, and engagement. This role provides opportunities to develop leadership skills and gain experience in guest interaction, problem-solving, and business strategy.
Responsibilities
- Build a team of Guest Advocates and Service and Engagement Leaders to exceed guest service expectations by focusing on decreasing wait time, friendly interactions, and service recovery.
- Drive total store sales and understand your role in sales growth and profitability.
- Anticipate staffing needs, talent plan, and recruit both long-term and short-term.
- Manage leaders to ensure training completion, understanding, and continuous education for front-of-store experiences.
- Engage in consistent and meaningful development conversations with your team.
- Personalize recognition and appreciation to reinforce guest service behaviors and promote a positive team culture.
- Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management.
- Use business reporting and guest insights to troubleshoot and address opportunity areas.
- Respond quickly to negative guest experiences by de-escalating situations and ensuring your team feels supported.
- Manage schedules to support peak traffic times, holidays, and weekends.
- Ensure Team Leader schedules support a frictionless experience for all shopping preferences (checklanes, self-checkout, Order Pick-up, Drive Up).
- Champion physical and digital offerings to inform, educate, and promote benefits and features (e.g., Target RedCard and Wallet).
- Keep your team updated on promotions, brand launches, and events.
- Utilize guest survey tools to drive change in key areas impacting guest experience.
- Lead the team to deliver an efficient and hassle-free guest pick-up experience.
- Work a schedule aligned with guest and business needs, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
- Address store needs such as emergencies and regulatory visits.
- Perform all other duties as needed.
Requirements
- 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong business acumen.
- Ability to manage conflict, lead, and hold others accountable.
- Ability to relate well and interact with all levels of the organization.
- Strong cognitive skills, including problem analysis, decision-making, and financial/quantitative analysis.
- Ability to learn and adapt to current technology needs.
- Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently and with a team.
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues.
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
- Accurately handle cash register operations and transactions.
- Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; regular attendance is necessary.
Skills
- Knowledge of guest service fundamentals and experience building a guest-first team culture.
- Skills in guest engagement, problem-solving, and resolution.
- Knowledge of retail business fundamentals, including sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing, and promotions strategies.
- Experience setting and planning department workload to support business priorities and managing a team to deliver service and sales goals.
- Experience managing a team of hourly team members and leaders, and creating Service and Engagement business strategies and goals.
- Skills in recruiting, selecting, and talent management of hourly team members and leaders.
