Executive Producer News
Position Overview
WINK News, Southwest Florida’s News leader, is seeking multiple experienced Executive Producers to fill key leadership roles in our Fort Myers newsroom. You will be responsible for overseeing the creation of high-quality news content, driving the editorial direction of our newscast while also overseeing producers.
Responsibilities
Editorial Leadership: Develop and implement the overall editorial vision and strategy for our news programs. Stay informed about current events, news trends, and audience preferences to guide decision-making. Determine the news stories to cover, prioritize coverage, and allocate resources effectively. Collaborate with editors, reporters, and news anchors to shape story ideas and enhance their delivery.
News Production Management: Oversee the entire news production process, including planning, story development, scripting, and on-air presentation. Coordinate with various departments, such as news gathering, research, and technical teams, to ensure seamless execution of news programs. Review and approve scripts, graphics, videos, and other visual elements for broadcast.
Team Leadership and Development: Lead and inspire a team of news professionals, including producers, editors, writers, and production staff. Provide clear direction, feedback, and guidance to team members, fostering their professional growth and development. Encourage a collaborative and innovative work culture that promotes excellence, creativity, and journalistic integrity.
Quality Control and Standards: Uphold high journalistic standards and ethics in news reporting, ensuring accuracy, fairness, and objectivity. Monitor and evaluate the quality of news content, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective measures. Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and production techniques to enhance the overall quality and innovation of our news programming. Demonstrate exceptional editorial judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced news environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in journalism or broadcasting preferred but not required
3+ years in television news, with a focus on editorial leadership and management
Strong knowledge of news production processes, including story development, scriptwriting, and on-air presentation
Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and high-performance
Exceptional editorial judgment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced news environment
Proficient in current news industry trends, digital platforms, and multimedia storytelling techniques
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels
Solid organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to handle multiple projects and meet strict deadlines
Deep understanding of journalistic ethics and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of accuracy, fairness, and integrity
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit or work at a computer for extended periods
Clear verbal and written communication in person, by phone, and via video
Able to lift up to 15 pounds
Visual and auditory ability to operate standard office equipment
