Executive Producer
About The Role
Fortune is seeking an Executive Producer to lead a team of video producers creating timely features in various formats, including field pieces, explainers, and video podcasts. The role involves overseeing the editorial and creative vision for the department, including a new daily show. Key responsibilities include defining and executing strategy, hiring and developing talent, managing a team, collaborating with other departments, and mentoring team members.
Responsibilities
- Work with the VP, Video and other leadership to define and execute overall strategy for Fortune’s on-site and platform video offering.
- Hire, develop and grow key talent within the video department.
- Oversee a team of video producers to produce features, series, and video podcasts for the growing Fortune audience.
- Hold responsibility for meeting KPIs as defined for the team.
- Collaborate with editorial leaders across all coverage areas to identify opportunities to partner on reporting and communicate original video plans that relate to their beats.
- Collaborate with commercial teams to identify sponsorship opportunities for editorial content, and activations team to ensure timely delivery on deadlines.
- Program a robust pipeline of stories that hit on relevant news, but also push coverage forward.
- Provide clear and constructive notes on scripts and videos in edit, ensuring that the final product is structured and produced to maximize audience retention and engagement.
- Mentor team members to develop new skills and provide opportunities for career growth.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
You have: At least 10 years of experience working in video production at a national or global media company. At least five years of experience managing video producers. Experience producing video at or off of live events Excellent editorial judgment, strong field production experience and team-management skills. A track record of translating complex business and economics stories into smart video storytelling. Experience pitching original video ideas, developing and executing new formats and series, and crafting stories in post-production. Professional experience writing, reviewing and elevating scripts for videos. Specific understanding of content and audience differentiation on various platforms including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn. Experience managing budgets for one-off and series projects. Clear communication skills, with exceptional written and collaboration skills.

Skills
Superb news judgment, leadership, decisiveness and clear communication are critical for this role. Outside of the video team, you will work closely with the events team, reporters and editors as well as other high-level stakeholders of the newsroom. You will also mentor and empower a group of producers to do their best work under tight deadlines and continue to raise the bar for video journalism at Fortune.
Benefits
Salary Range: Up to $190,000, plus eligibility for a variable annual bonus. This range is a good faith estimate and may ultimately vary based on a number of relevant factors. Location: This role will be based in NYC; 5 days/week in the office is expected.
