Wells Fargo is seeking an Executive Director to drive the strategy, design, and delivery of innovative tax technology and data capabilities across the Corporate Tax function. This high-visibility role focuses on modernizing the tax operating model through scalable systems, data transparency, and automation within a highly regulated financial services environment. You will partner closely with Corporate Tax, Finance, and Enterprise Technology to deliver sustainable, well-controlled, and compliant processes enabled by modern data and technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the tax transformation team, executing the tax transformation strategy across the end-to-end lifecycle in alignment with enterprise technology and finance priorities, focusing on scalability, control, and compliance.
  • Evaluate, design, implement, and continuously enhance tax data, automation, and technology solutions supporting tax provision, compliance, reporting, and analytics.
  • Oversee tax data architecture, integration, and automation initiatives to improve data quality, lineage, timeliness, and transparency across source systems and tax applications.
  • Develop data analytics and reporting capabilities that provide actionable insights, support risk management, and improve visibility into tax data and outcomes.
  • Drive modernization efforts, including process automation, workflow standardization, and adoption of advanced analytics to reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, and improve operational resilience.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Corporate Tax, Finance, and Enterprise Technology for tax-related transformation initiatives, translating tax requirements into technical solutions.
  • Monitor emerging technology trends and leading practices, including generative AI use cases for tax, to advise stakeholders and inform transformation roadmaps.
  • Build and develop team capabilities, supporting training, change management, and adoption of new tools and ways of working across the tax function.
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring solutions align with business needs and enterprise standards.
  • Establish and maintain governance, controls, change management, and documentation consistent with the Company's internal control framework and regulatory expectations.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of Corporate Tax experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience across technology, tax transformation, finance systems, or corporate tax.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise technology and data solutions in a regulated environment such as financial services, banking, or large public companies.
  • Strong understanding of corporate tax processes and data requirements, including tax financial reporting (provision), tax return reporting, and how technology enables and controls these processes.
  • Experience integrating tax processes and applications with core finance and ERP systems.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders across Tax, Finance, and Technology, with strong communication and change-management skills.
  • Working knowledge of leading commercial tax software platforms supporting provision, compliance, and reporting (e.g., Corptax, Oracle, Longview, or equivalent platforms).
  • Experience leveraging data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Alteryx, or similar) to support tax insights and automation.
  • Conversant in generative artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and practical use cases for tax functions, including productivity, analytics, and knowledge management, with appropriate governance considerations.
  • Financial services industry experience and familiarity with U.S. GAAP and accounting for income taxes.
  • Advanced degree or relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, MST) preferred.

Pay

The base pay range for this position is $159,000.00 - $279,000.00. Pay may vary depending on factors including demonstrated prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
