About the role
The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring the mission and vision of the school are implemented effectively, overseeing all aspects of running a school. This includes providing instructional leadership, managing operations and administrative duties, supporting student enrollment, and cultivating a strong anti-bias, anti-racist school culture. The Executive Director fosters relationships with key stakeholders to meet budgetary, academic, and talent goals.
The ideal candidate is an experienced school leader with expertise in leading successful school environments, coaching teams, and meeting student outcomes. Familiarity with Summit Learning or personalized learning is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Create a school-based vision aligned with Summit Public Schools’ mission, including clearly articulated goals and measures of success. Lead stakeholders to implement this vision and refine it as needed.
- Meet regularly with students, parents, and faculty to communicate and inspire them around the mission and vision.
- Ensure academic programs accelerate outcomes for all students through strong instructional leadership, facilitating leadership team meetings, and providing professional development and coaching.
- Implement a school design and program that collects and analyzes data to improve student outcomes, fostering a culture where faculty use classroom data to enhance teaching practices.
- Ensure all data in the student information system is accurate and maintain student records in compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Design, implement, and manage a testing plan for external (e.g., SATs) and internal tests (e.g., CAASPP), including training proctors, collaborating with Special Education teachers, and fostering a culture that respects standardized tests.
- Ensure all courses are approved through the UC system, design and manage a UC course approval plan, and stay updated on changes to the approval process.
- Ensure the school is fully enrolled by developing and executing a student recruitment and enrollment vision in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the talent team and school leaders to interview, assess, and select faculty and staff using culturally responsive rubrics and tools.
- Coach and support faculty and staff to ensure professional growth, including setting goals, conducting observations, and providing feedback.
- Support faculty and staff in finding development opportunities, advocating for internal growth and identifying external opportunities.
- Lead a strong faculty culture that embraces the school’s vision and mission, including onboarding new hires to align with organizational goals.
- Foster a school culture that supports the mission and vision, providing an engaging environment and developing strategies to inspire students to meet culture goals.
- Ensure a positive student experience with extracurricular activities, including athletic teams, clubs, and school events.
- Develop and implement effective restorative practices and discipline strategies for students.
- Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including school governing bodies, community partners, and student families.
- Ensure compliance with requirements from school governing bodies and attend SPS Board meetings at least twice a year.
- Ensure the school is accredited through WASC by designing, implementing, and managing a WASC plan and reviewing school-wide ESLRS.
- Create and maintain a balanced budget in collaboration with the Chief Financial Officer, forecast and monitor the school budget, and participate in financial audits.
- Ensure faculty and staff understand and adhere to financial requirements, authorizing all spending by signing expense reports and reviewing contracts.
- Set annual fundraising goals and strategies, meeting with the development team to assess progress and design initiatives.
- Support on-site operations and administrative staff to ensure the school facility is operational at all times.
- Design and manage a student attendance plan and collaborate with the office manager to create a welcoming front desk.
- Collaborate with staff to ensure eligible students are identified and submit paperwork for free and reduced lunch.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements (e.g., PCSGP, CPR training, SB 740, PENSEC, CALPADS, CBEDs).
Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree (required).
- Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or a similar program (required).
- Prior experience in school leadership (required).
- Teaching Credential in California or another U.S. state (required).
- Prior teaching experience (required).
- Administrative Credential in California or another U.S. state (required).
- Proficiency in Google Platforms (Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Google Slides).
- Clear health and background check.

Pay
The salary for this position ranges from $131,337 to $165,120, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
