Executive Director, Sizer School

About the role

The Executive Director will lead Sizer School, a regional charter public school in Fitchburg, educating over 270 students in grades 7-12. The position is open for the 2026-27 school year.

Responsibilities

• Navigate the leadership transition and maintain and grow relationships with students, parents, teachers, staff, community leaders, education partners, government officials, DESE, and supporters.
• Support the Principal in raising academic rigor and student achievement.
• Recruit, onboard, develop, and retain experienced teachers and staff.
• Develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy.
• Sustain and expand academic and career opportunities for students.
• Ensure appropriate staffing, programs, and spaces for individualized educational programs.
• Partner with the Board and community to secure resources for capital projects and expanded programs.

Requirements

• A minimum of five years of senior educational leadership experience.
• A Master’s degree required.
• Experience with Sizer’s unique mission and essential school model.
• Strong financial management and compliance skills.
• Ability to prioritize student needs and make final decisions.
• Effective communication and relationship-building skills.
• Community engagement and partnership-building experience.

Benefits

This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position with a starting salary range of $150,000 to $170,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications. Sizer offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision care, life and disability insurance, and participation in the MTRS pension plan. Paid time off is also provided.
