Executive Director, R&D Strategy & Operations

For our client, we are seeking a Executive Director, R&D Strategy & Operations to join the team of a leader in the Pharmaceuticals & Biotech space. This role will serve as a strategic partner and chief of staff to senior R&D leadership, helping translate priorities into clear operating rhythms and decision support. The position will maintain broad visibility across research and development functions to surface risks, align resources, and strengthen execution. It will also help shape long-range R&D strategy, portfolio planning, and cross-functional governance in support of organizational effectiveness. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $246,000 – $332,000 annually Responsibilities Serve as a trusted strategic advisor and chief of staff to the EVP, Head of R&D & CMO. Maintain visibility across all R&D functions to identify opportunities and organizational risks. Provide synthesis of strategic priorities, risks, and resource allocation. Represent the Office of the EVP in cross-functional strategic initiatives. Support long-range R&D strategy and portfolio planning. Improve organizational effectiveness and facilitate cross-functional collaboration. Lead the R&D Leadership Team operating model and governance framework. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, healthcare, or a related discipline required. Advanced degree (PhD, MD, PharmD, MBA, or equivalent) strongly preferred. 12+ years of biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience required. 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in R&D strategy, operations, or related roles.
