A well-funded, clinical-stage biotechnology company is seeking an accomplished Executive Director, Clinical Pharmacology to provide scientific and strategic leadership across a diverse portfolio of innovative therapeutics. This executive will play a critical role in advancing development programs from candidate selection through late-stage clinical development while building and leading a high-performing Clinical Pharmacology organization. The successful candidate will establish clinical pharmacology strategy across multiple programs, integrating DMPK, PK/PD, exposure-response analyses, translational medicine, and model-informed drug development to support dose selection, study design, and regulatory strategy. This leader will partner closely with Clinical Development, Translational Medicine, Nonclinical, Regulatory Affairs, Biometrics, and Executive Leadership while representing the function with health authorities and external scientific collaborators.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the clinical pharmacology strategy across multiple development programs.
  • Provide scientific leadership in DMPK, PK/PD, exposure-response analysis, model-informed drug development (MIDD), and dose optimization.
  • Guide translational strategies that connect nonclinical findings with clinical development.
  • Lead Clinical Pharmacology contributions to global regulatory submissions, briefing documents, and health authority interactions.
  • Interpret complex pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and biomarker data to support portfolio decisions.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design efficient and scientifically rigorous development plans.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Clinical Pharmacology organization while managing external CROs and scientific partners.
  • Establish best practices, operational excellence, and scalable processes across the Clinical Pharmacology function.
  • Support business development activities, scientific due diligence, and external collaborations as needed.

Qualifications

  • MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree in Clinical Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacokinetics, or a related discipline.
  • 12+ years of progressive pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry experience supporting clinical drug development.
  • Demonstrated leadership in Clinical Pharmacology across multiple stages of development.
  • Deep expertise in small molecule development, PK/PD, DMPK, quantitative pharmacology, and translational medicine.
  • Strong understanding of global regulatory expectations and experience supporting regulatory submissions and agency interactions.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams, mentor scientists, and effectively communicate with executive leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative biotechnology or pharmaceutical environments.
