About the role
The Executive Director of the Center for Rural Engagement oversees operations, budgeting, staffing, and development initiatives to ensure long-term sustainability and program excellence. This role also involves building lasting relationships with local governments, nonprofits, regional organizations, and business leaders, expanding educational impact through immersive experiences for Pitt-Bradford students, and advancing community-engaged research.
Responsibilities

- Guide and disseminate research that addresses rural community challenges
Requirements
- At least seven years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, research, community organizations, or related fields
- Master’s degree preferred in rural studies, public policy, sociology, public health, economic development, regional planning, or a related field
- Demonstrated success building cross-sector partnerships and engaging diverse stakeholders
- Outstanding communication, analytical, and strategic planning skills
- A commitment to elevating rural voices and strengthening rural futures through innovation, collaboration, and research-informed practice

- Physical effort: Regular standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
- Specific vision abilities: Close vision, distant vision, and the ability to focus
