About the Role
Responsible and accountable for the marketing and underwriting of the assigned Surety portfolio within the East Region (Baltimore, Boston, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and/or North Carolina) for the Allianz Trade North America Surety Team. The Executive Surety Underwriter maintains existing broker relationships, recommends new broker relationships, markets Surety's capabilities, and underwrites profitable business in the U.S.
Responsibilities
- Execute the established strategic business plan with the Regional Surety Manager to maintain and expand Allianz Trade’s Surety business in the United States.
- Develop and underwrite a profitable portfolio of Surety business through active engagement with existing and new broker relationships in the local market.
- Document all decisions and recommendations in a consistent and transparent manner.
- Conduct account and portfolio underwriting activities in alignment with Allianz Trade’s underwriting guidelines and portfolio management requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Americas and internationally to leverage surety capabilities and the existing customer base.
- Attend industry groups and local surety events as requested by the Regional Manager.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of industry experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in surety underwriting in the U.S. local market.
- Entrepreneurial skill set to establish and achieve goals and objectives.
- Established track record of developing business with brokers.
- 4-year college degree with emphasis in business, economics, or finance.
- Basic awareness of Artificial Intelligence technologies and enthusiasm for learning and integrating AI into everyday business processes (e.g., Generative AI, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, data analysis tools).
Qualifications
- Proven ability to underwrite and grow a Surety portfolio.
- Strong relationships with local brokers.
- Recognized expertise in the underwriting of surety accounts and risks.
- Proven track record of successful underwriting results.
Pay
Total compensation range: $150,000–$175,000. Placement within this range is based on the individual’s relevant experience, skills for the role, and location.
