The Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis oversees four precincts in Harris County, Texas. It serves as the administrative head of the county's government, with Commissioner Rodney Ellis representing Precinct One.

Precinct One covers 363 square miles and includes diverse demographics, with a population of approximately 1.17 million residents. We're seeking a highly organized and proactive professional to serve as the Executive Assistant to the Chief of Staff. This role involves supporting the Chief of Staff by managing their calendar, preparing meetings, and communicating with stakeholders. What You Will Do at Precinct One

  • Provide executive calendar management and meeting logistics
  • Develop systems for efficient information flow within the office and across departments
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for the Chief of Staff
  • Manage internal and external stakeholder communication
  • Administer administrative systems and financial coordination

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Executive Support and Calendar Management: Manage the Chief of Staff's calendar, prepare meeting materials, and coordinate travel arrangements.
  • Information and Records Management: Maintain archives of key documents and correspondence and develop systems for knowledge sharing.
  • Internal and External Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a key point of contact, ensuring information flows effectively between the Chief of Staff, Commissioner's Engagement Team, and internal divisions.
  • Administrative Systems and Financial Coordination: Track key assignments and approvals, manage departmental expenditures, and reconcile expense reports.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; equivalent experience may substitute education.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a high-level administrative support role.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Outstanding organizational and time management skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent computer skills (QuickBooks, PeopleSoft, Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

General Information

  • Work Environment: Professional office setting.
  • Physical Demands: Standard office role requiring long periods of stationary work and occasional lifting up to 15 lbs.
