Excess & Specialty Lines Underwriter

Key Responsibilities

• Apply underwriting judgment to assess, price, and structure SME/commercial risks across assigned E&S lines
• Evaluate risk selection criteria and coverage terms against portfolio performance standards
• Provide expert input on exposure analysis, limit adequacy, and endorsement structuring for specialty accounts
• Contribute to pilot deliverables with potential to expand into a longer-term engagement
• Document underwriting rationale and risk recommendations with clarity and precision

Core Requirements

• Demonstrated underwriting experience in Excess & Specialty lines including one or more of: Excess Casualty, Professional Liability, Management Liability, Cyber, Environmental, Excess Property, E&S GL, or Construction/Transportation specialty risks
• Direct SME and commercial account underwriting experience with proven ability to independently assess complex risks
• Strong command of risk selection frameworks, coverage structuring, and pricing methodology
• Background with specialty carriers, MGAs, wholesale brokers, or E&S platforms
• Ability to operate independently as a 1099 contractor with flexible scheduling

Additional Strengths

• Exposure to portfolio-level risk management or book analysis within an E&S or wholesale environment
• Familiarity with admitted vs. non-admitted market dynamics and surplus lines compliance considerations
