Exceptional Student Education Assistant
Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Assistant to provide both administrative and instructional support to the ESE Department.
About the role
The ESE Assistant supports the department with confidential student records, coordinates ESE and 504 meetings, prepares reports, and manages documentation related to IEPs and 504 Plans. The role also involves working directly with students in one-on-one and small group settings to reinforce learning, support testing and assignments, and help students achieve academic success. Additionally, the position assists teachers and the ESE team with clerical tasks, prepares instructional materials, and helps maintain a safe and supportive school environment through lunchroom, arrival, and dismissal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Performs secretarial duties for the ESE Department.
- Prepares and produces reports using student information systems, IEP management systems, and various computer programs.
- Assists in the coordination of ESE and 504 student, parent, and consultant services meetings.
- Organizes and manages paperwork for 504 plans, Individualized Education Plans, and other ESE student-related information.
- Performs general clerical work in assisting teachers and the ESE team by maintaining student records and preparing/distributing teaching materials.
- Ensures confidentiality of student information and records; files and maintains ESE records for individual students.
- Works one-on-one and in small groups with assigned students to support content mastery and reinforce lessons.
- Assists students during testing and with completing tasks and assignments.
- Assists in the lunchroom and provides supervision during arrival and dismissal (AM/PM duty).
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate.
- One year of secretarial experience.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain accurate records, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to prepare routine reports, correspondence, and documentation with accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, teachers, staff, community partners, and vendors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Excel, Google Workspace, and other technology tools used for communication, reporting, and record management.

Pay
$18.00 - $20.00 per hour.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, part time between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., up to 37.5 hours a week.
Location: Boca Raton, College of Education: Florida Atlantic University School - District and School Programs.
