About the role
The Exceptional Children's (EC) Teacher provides specialized instruction and support to kindergarten through fourth-grade students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The EC Teacher collaborates with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to ensure students receive appropriate educational services and opportunities to achieve academic, behavioral, and social success.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements individualized educational plans based on student needs and IEP goals.
- Collaborates with other educators and support staff to design and deliver effective instruction tailored to diverse learning styles.
- Maintains open communication with families regarding student progress and educational strategies.
- Evaluates student performance regularly and adjusts instructional methods as needed to meet educational objectives.
- Participates in team meetings and professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in special education or related field.
- Valid teaching license in special education.
- Experience working with students with IEPs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of current special education methodologies and best practices.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate different learning abilities.
- Proficiency in using technology to support student learning.
