EWP Sawyer

About the role

A Carter Lumber EWP Sawyer processes cutting i-joists to specifications to ensure a quality product is produced. Tasks are standard and generally routine.

Responsibilities

• Sawing: Gather materials, read cut sheets, set up machines, ensure accuracy of cuts, maintain inventory, manage servicing schedule, meet production goals, load/unload semi flat beds.
• Safety: Adhere to safety requirements, report defects or safety issues.
• Other: Accurately complete daily jobs, keep EWP area clean and organized, optimize cuts, maintain chain saw blades, perform monthly cycle counts.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, mill, or lumber environment preferred
• Ability to operate a forklift and chainsaw
• Knowledge of safety procedures while handling saws and other tools
• Possess manual dexterity and the ability to do repetitious work
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written and verbal instruction
• Ability to read and understand simple diagrams and blueprints
• Ability to work at a fast pace
• Ability to work in inclement weather
• Ability to work in a team environment
