About the role

The Environmental Service Technician position at Bronson Health Care is a 20-hour weekly, 4-hour shift role under the supervision of the environmental services manager. This position is responsible for maintaining environmental and infection control standards within the health care facility.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning of patient rooms, occupied and unoccupied, public areas, surgical areas as well as additional areas as assigned
  • Stocking of supplies
  • Cleaning and maintaining equipment
  • Providing service to both internal and external customers
  • Following standard practices and procedures that comply with regulatory requirements
  • Receiving working instructions and having work audited for accuracy and compliance with standards of quality
  • Maintaining knowledge of, and complying with, all relevant laws, regulations, and policies
  • Collecting and organizing biomedical waste for pickup by the waste hauler
  • Transporting and disposing of recyclables to the appropriate compactor or dumpster
  • Changing privacy curtains as needed
  • Rounding, inspecting, and maintaining assigned areas within the facility
  • Operating and maintaining assigned floor care machinery

Requirements

  • Michigan driver's license and insurability may be required
  • Ability to work independently
  • Communicate (verbally and in writing) in English (at or above the 8th grade level)
  • Interpersonal skills that represent Bronson in a positive and professional manner
  • Excellent customer service skills, thoroughness, and time management skills
  • Comfortable accepting delegation and negotiating task priorities
  • Ability to work while standing, sitting, and/or walking
  • Good balance is required when performing all duties
  • Protecting clothing may include gloves, eye protection, face protection, and shoe covers

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED (no longer required for this position)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with heavier tasks
  • Knowledge of and compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies
  • Experience with and ability to operate and maintain assigned floor care machinery

Benefits

  • Up to $375.00 sign-on bonus for external candidates
  • External candidates only receive a retention bonus of $375.00

Pay

  • $15.00 per hour
