About the Role

The Environmental Services Tech performs routine, repetitive cleaning tasks to maintain high standards of quality and cleanliness in patient and hospital areas. This role ensures adherence to hospital standards for cleanliness and infectious disease protocols, including proper handling of linens and waste.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cleaning of designated patient and hospital areas, including restrooms and corridors.
• Transports waste to appropriate disposal areas.
• Ensures housekeeping chemicals are labeled, storage closets are clean and organized, and carts are properly stored or locked when leaving a unit.
• Uses the correct amount and type of chemical according to product specifications and department policies.
• Performs routine hospital laundry services, including monitoring and inspecting laundry equipment, supplies, and work areas.
• Cleans lint filters before each load and ensures all lint is removed from under and around filters.
• Shuts off dryers and opens doors at the end of the shift; damp mops the clean linen room using microfiber mops.
• Dusts desks, cabinets, tables, fans, etc., in clean drying/folding areas.
• Cleans washers daily, ensuring no lint remains on top of the washer at the end of the day; completes wash cycles and opens doors at the end of the shift.
• Vacuums dryer/folding and soiled linen areas, including the back of dryers.
• Completes regularly scheduled work assignments and checks the accuracy of own work; assists co-workers as requested.
• Follows standard precautions and uses equipment safely and appropriately.
• Maintains confidentiality of all department data and activities.
• Demonstrates flexibility in work schedules and routes.
• Complies with all established safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in housekeeping or laundry.

Skills

• Ability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Basic computer skills.
