EVS Safety & Training Manager
About the role
EVS Safety & Training Manager position supporting the Penn Medicine Health System in Philadelphia, PA. This role facilitates new hire and ongoing training for all Environmental Services Managers and Hourly Staff, including all required monthly and annual trainings. Additionally, the position manages all safety within the EVS Department and is fully responsible for the waste stream (including medical waste and sharps) and related documentation.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate EVS training for all salaried and hourly employees, including new hires and ongoing monthly/annual required training.
- Maintain records to ensure all training records, competencies, and regulatory training are up to date.
- Conduct classroom-style, group training, and one-to-one spot safety training to ensure compliance with client and Aramark safety programs.
- Serve as the point of contact for safety-related claims and issues; participate in safety calls.
- Maintain a friendly, efficient, and positive customer service attitude toward customers, clients, and co-workers.
- Provide effective feedback to employees and the management team.
- Demonstrate professionalism and courtesy when responding to all calls and requests.
- Ensure employees comply with JCAHO, OSHA, Aramark, hospital, and infection control standards.
- Provide employees with checklists, guidebooks, or other training materials to ensure proper procedures are followed.
- Assist in enhancing productivity and efficient operations of the department.
- Manage the waste stream process and compliance, including documentation and manifests (trash, medical waste).
- Demonstrate commitment to professional growth and competence by adhering to hospital policies.
Requirements
- 3+ years of Environmental Services Management experience required.
- Acute Care Hospital experience required, including knowledge of OR and ED cleaning.
- Technical Safety Knowledge required.
- Proven experience managing and training hourly staff, whether in operations or a formal training role.
- Strong customer orientation required for success in this position.
- Skilled in directing and motivating staff; knowledge of infection control techniques.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work well with others at all levels.
- Knowledge of pertinent regulatory agencies and the policies, codes, standards, and regulations applicable to Environmental Services.
- Detailed organization and prioritizing skills, with the ability to train, teach, demonstrate, and follow up on assignments.
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret and follow technical instructions and complete assignments in a timely manner, showing a sense of urgency.
