About the Role

As a Manager in Training at Yona, you will learn to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the housekeeping and laundry department in a skilled nursing facility. Your role is essential in maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and well-supplied environment to ensure the highest degree of quality resident care. You will coordinate and support all department activities, working with all levels of facility staff to foster a warm and friendly atmosphere for residents, visitors, and coworkers.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, hire, and orient housekeeping, floor care, and laundry staff.
  • Train workers in housekeeping, laundry, and floor care procedures, including proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise the functions and activities of the departments.
  • Supervise and evaluate the quality of work completed by department employees.
  • Maintain a sanitary, attractive, and orderly environment.
  • Forecast and plan the purchase of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment.
  • Plan work and staffing schedules to ensure adequate services are rendered and maintain proper staffing levels.
  • Maintain required records, including inventory, compliance, income/expense, and personnel records.
  • Conduct regular management staff meetings and coordinate with other departments.
  • Manage a cost-effective program within budget.
  • Ensure the department is survey-ready at all times, complying with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain excellent relations with residents, visitors, and all community departments.
  • Actively participate in facility meetings and committees.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Promote the professional growth and development of the departmental team.
  • Conduct quality assurance rounds and inspections to ensure sustainable quality controls.
  • Report monthly initiatives, goals, and accomplishments.
  • Promote and monitor resident satisfaction.
  • Perform job assignments of a housekeeper, laundry worker, or floor care technician as necessary.
  • Complete other job duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Four-year college degree and equivalent related experience strongly desired; high school diploma/GED required.
  • Two years of experience in housekeeping services in a healthcare environment and personnel supervision is desired.
  • Skilled in motivating and supervising staff members.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service, and a quality-focused attitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives.
  • Strong public speaking skills.
  • Excellent stress management, administrative, organizational, and follow-through skills.
  • Ability to interact positively with residents, clients, personnel, and the public.
  • Ability to work all shifts as needed.
  • Proficient in Windows-based office software, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work around cleaning chemicals.
  • Ability to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds, push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods.
