About the role
The EVOLUTIONS Fellow position is an intensive year-long fellowship as part of the EVOLUTIONS teen Program at the Peabody Museum. Open to alumni of the EVOLUTIONS Program who hold a bachelor's degree or above, the EVOLUTIONS Fellow will develop management and teaching skills while serving the Education department of the Yale Peabody Museum. This is a one-year fellowship with the potential of renewal for a second year.
Responsibilities
- Develop curriculum development and lesson plan writing skills, and practice those skills in a variety of museum contexts.
- Facilitate daily programs and classes, honing teaching and science communication skills.
- Develop science content knowledge through interactions with Peabody collections staff.
- Shadow the supervision of activities and events for program participants and museum visitors.
- Participate in activities to develop relationships with informal educators across Yale's campus and throughout New Haven.
- Support the department with any other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with YPM's EVOLUTIONS Program.
- Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Proven ability to engage and motivate high school students.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proven experience in informal science education.
- Ability to communicate science content to students and translate science concepts and content into programming.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion.
Skills
- Alumni of the EVOLUTIONS Program at the Peabody Museum.
- Bachelor's degree in science education, psychology, or a related field.
- Excellent science content knowledge.
Benefits
This is a 30-hour per week internship with a variable schedule including weekends and evenings.
Pay
$39,300.00 - $292,125.00
