EVG - Diesel Mechanic/Shop Foreman

About the role

We're looking to add an experienced mechanic / shop foreman to our office in Gonzales, LA. The Shop Foreman will ensure that qualified repairs are performed correctly, efficiently and timely. The position of Mechanic is responsible to support ongoing maintenance and repairs of on-road equipment and pumps for operations; ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of the equipment used in operations. This is considered a safety-sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.
• Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion; completing winterization procedures.
• Corrects vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completing machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units.
• Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
• Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
• Maintains vehicle appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.
• Maintains vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
• Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
• Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications.
• Enhances maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with applicable environmental, health, safety and building codes as required by federal, state, local and refinery regulations.
• Maintain poise and focus under time constraint and adverse conditions.
• Attend and complete trainings as required by the Company and client.
• Pass all required drug/alcohol testing and background requirements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent work experience and 5 years minimum experience in related position.
• Basic math skills.
• Good knowledge of equipment and prior experience with diesel equipment repair.
• Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions in English and have overall good communication skills, written and oral.
• Accurate Diagnostic and Troubleshooting skills required.
• Possess a complete set of tools.
• Be available to work at various petrochemical facilities.
