Events Manager
About the role
Rise Against Hunger is seeking an Events Manager to oversee the execution, logistics, and operations of volunteer meal packing events. The ideal candidate will lead volunteers, manage warehouse operations, and ensure smooth event execution.
Responsibilities
Facilitate volunteers and train staff on packaging procedures.
Lead the recruitment and training of part-time team members.
Transport raw materials and equipment to mobile packaging locations on a weekly basis.
Facilitate the setup of equipment and other materials using a pallet jack and box truck.
Receive shipments of raw ingredients, supplies, and equipment.
Ship finished products and ensure proper documentation including inventory tracking, invoices, bill of ladings, and receipts of orders.
Track and record meal production in relation to projections, meals shipped, inventory, and revenue forecasting.
Enforce safe and effective practices of handling and transporting raw materials, equipment, and packaged meals using forklifts and pallet jackets.
Secure and deploy resources effectively and efficiently.
Develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of our different audiences.
Make timely and effective decisions and demonstrate the ability to generate innovative ideas.
Best absorb information through experimentation when tackling new problems, using both success and failures as lessons learned.
Plan and prioritize work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.
Adapt your approach and demeanor to match the shifting demands of different situations.
Requirements
Age 21 years or older.
Ace or two years of work experience in related field.
Proficiency in Google/Microsoft office suite as well as other cloud-based software.
A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to drive a box truck to transport materials to and from events.
Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting or operating pallet jacks including frequently lifting up to 50lbs.
Compliance with DOT regulations and maintenance of DOT certification (no history of marijuana use).
Flexibility to work weekends as well as some evenings and early mornings.
Experience with non-profit work is helpful but not required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience, education or knowledge related to hunger, international development, and/or non-profits.
Experience using specialized equipment such as box trucks, forklifts, and pallet jackets.
Knowledge of inventory management and requisition procedures (FIFO).
Experience with non-profit fundraising and/or sales.
Experience with Salesforce.
Experience with public speaking.
Experience with volunteer coordination and event planning.
