Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting the Cultural Facility Manager in planning, set up and operation of Cultural events, classes and activities. This includes event organizing, scheduling, promoting, ticket sales, set up and tear down, volunteer supervision, and customer service. Frequent weekend and evening hours are required for this position.

Examples Of Essential Duties

  • Aids event organizers in determining technical requirements; manages audio and video equipment, troubleshoots less-complex issues; ensures sound and video for events meets departmental expectations.
  • Aids with set-ups and tear downs in the PACE center, the Schoolhouse, and the Ruth Memorial Chapel; reconfigures event spaces for a variety of classes, workshops, meetings and events.
  • Understands and receives cross-training in facility operations, may staff these functions as needed.
  • Maintains restroom facilities before, during and after events; cleans toilet/sink, mops, vacuums, sweeps and replenishes facility supplies.
  • Provides excellent customer service and creates positive relationships with facility users and renters.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
  • Experience with events or event set-up and/or customer service is preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant town, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, including computer use and standard office equipment.
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques.
  • Able to follow and give clear verbal and written instructions; able to report operations accurately.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail.
  • Able to interact tactfully and courteously with the public.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure and handle stressful or hostile situations professionally.
  • Able to collaborate with staff, departments, officials, external agencies, and the public.
  • Able to support and implement departmental goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

  • Tools & Equipment: Requires frequent use of a computer, software packages, standard office equipment, and small hand tools.
  • Physical Demands: Requires regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, handling, feeling or operating objects, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Requires occasional reaching with hands and arms, climbing and balancing. Requires regular physical activity with heavy lifting, up to fifty (50) pounds. Occasionally, the employee must push or pull up to fifty (50) pounds. Requires close and distance vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus, allowing a broad field of vision. Employee must communicate clearly and effectively; must understand and be understood.
  • Environment: Work is frequently performed in an office environment, classroom, or public assembly facility. On occasion, the employee will work outdoors at various locations. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme wet and humid conditions, extreme hot and/or cold conditions, or airborne particles. The noise level is usually high and may range from moderate to extreme. The employee may occasionally work with or around hazardous items or hazardous conditions such as mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, chemicals, or radiant energy.
