Evening Shift Maintenance Hourly

About the role

Maintenance Mechanic at Pilgrim’s involves inspecting, repairing, and maintaining machinery and mechanical systems through preventive checks, troubleshooting faults, and performing repairs or replacements to ensure operational efficiency and minimize downtime. This hands-on position requires skills in using hand/power tools, understanding mechanics/hydraulics, and adhering to strict safety protocols in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine preventive maintenance, inspections, and diagnostics on motors, pumps, valves, and other equipment.
• Repair broken components, install new machinery, and perform emergency fixes.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using observation, testing, and schematics.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and parts inventory.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations; become familiar with all general plant and maintenance mechanic safety policies within the first 6 months of employment.
• Work any shift, weekends, holidays, and be on call for plant emergencies.
• Work at heights of 40 to 60 feet.
• Pass the M-4 maintenance test with a score of 80% or higher.
• Learn the basic day-to-day functions of a maintenance mechanic within a 45-day trial period.
• Work with maintenance mechanic operators and learn all safety and machine operation procedures.
• Complete required paperwork related to the mechanical integrity of the ammonia refrigeration system.
• Communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
• Perform all other duties as directed by Maintenance Management.
• Obey all USDA, HACCP, plant, and safety rules and regulations.
• Participate in process safety management and aid in company compliance with all government regulations concerning maintenance.
• Maintain all tools required for the position.
• Communicate daily with Refrigeration management regarding any issues needing attention.
• Participate on the Hazmat team, including passing Hazwoper training, Confined Space training, pulmonary function and respirator fit tests, and a Hazmat physical.
• Demonstrate basic electrical skills, including using a standard volt/ohm meter, reading and using an amp probe, reading electrical schematics, and troubleshooting 110, 220, and 480-volt 3-phase electrical circuits.
• Demonstrate basic welding skills.

• Basic mechanical abilities.

Pay

Base hourly salary: $21.35 plus $1.50 shift difference.

Schedule

Mon-Fri 3-11pm, Saturday 7-3pm with occasional weekends and holidays.
