About the role
The YouthBuild Philadelphia Charter School is a tuition-free public charter high school serving young people ages 17–20 who have been pushed out of traditional schools. Our program supports students in earning a high school diploma while gaining career exposure, industry certifications, and postsecondary pathways. The Evening School (YouthBuild Philly Flex) is a new program designed for students who are working during the day and need a flexible pathway to earn their diploma and build a career path.
Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver hands-on healthcare skills instruction in lab and classroom settings
- Prepare students for CPR, First Aid, HHA, CNA, and other relevant certifications
- Assess student mastery and provide frequent, actionable feedback
- Maintain lab safety, equipment, and instructional materials
- Collaborate with the specialized services team to ensure student success, by providing teacher input, attending IEP meetings and ensuring all students receive accommodations and modifications per their students’ IEPs and/or English language needs
- Track student progress, give frequent actionable feedback to students and communicate student progress to the greater community through PowerSchool
- Facilitate one section of independent study hall per day, providing a structured, supportive environment where students can focus on academic tasks, access guidance as needed, and develop effective study habits while ensuring a quiet and productive atmosphere
- Provide mentorship to a cohort of 4–5 students, offering consistent academic and personal support to help them stay on track toward meeting graduation requirements
- Support students enrolled in CNA, Phlebotomy, or related programs as needed
- Contribute to a collaborative startup culture and continuous improvement of the Evening School program

- CNA certification preferred
- Experience training or supervising in a healthcare setting preferred
- CPR and First Aid instructor certification preferred
- Experience working with youth or alternative education settings preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field preferred
