Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, season, and serve meals according to menus and dietary guidelines.
- Cook a variety of foods in large quantities, ensuring they are palatable, appetizing, and attractive.
- Handle and prepare food items such as vegetables, fruits, meats, fish, and poultry.
- Monitor portion-controlled guidelines and utilize leftovers to avoid waste.
- Estimate quantities of food required and apportion servings accurately.
- Follow standard recipes and make independent decisions based on current experience.
- Ensure adherence to meal schedules and maintain kitchen equipment and supplies.
- Work cooperatively with other staff and departments, including the Executive Chef.
- Wash pots, pans, and other equipment as needed.
- Supervise other food service employees in the absence of the Executive Chef.
- Perform all other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- Career focus on providing excellent care and support.
- Previous experience in a senior care community’s dining department preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently, up to 35 pounds occasionally, and up to 70 pounds rarely.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and crawling during work shifts.
- Exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- Knowledge of special diets, seasoning requirements, cooking times, and temperature controls.
- Experience in using large and small kitchen equipment.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a senior care community’s dining department preferred.
