EV Technician/Autonomous Vehicle Mechanic
About the role
Amerit Fleet Solutions, a leader in fleet maintenance across the U.S., is hiring a skilled EV Technician/Automotive Mechanic (Electric/Autonomous Vehicle) to join their team in San Francisco, CA. This role offers a competitive salary range of $34.00 - $59.00 per hour, weekly pay, full benefits starting within 30 days, and a potential $500 sign-on bonus plus a $5,000 retention bonus.
Responsibilities
- Perform service, repair, and maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and integrated systems of electric autonomous vehicles
- Diagnose nuanced mechanical, electrical, A/C, and autonomous vehicle systems
- Conduct complex hardware (HW) retrofits and AV hardware replacements
- Perform software and firmware updates
- Collaborate with engineering and service teams to troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues
- Create repair orders and accurately document work performed, including diagnosis, procedures, and parts used
- Participate in fleet-wide hardware and software retrofits
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a strong focus on quality and precision
- Participate in continuing education and training to stay current with autonomous vehicle technology
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on automotive and electric vehicle experience, including brakes, advanced suspension, alignment, electrical repair, and diagnosis
- Strong ability to diagnose nuanced mechanical, electrical, A/C, and AV/EV systems
- Experience with complex hardware retrofits and AV hardware replacement
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and automotive shop equipment (impact guns, lifts, jacks, etc.)
- Solid computer skills with a strong aptitude for learning new technology and software
- Excellent communication skills and ability to give/receive clear feedback
- A learning mindset and comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Proven commitment to safety and high-quality work
Qualifications
- Must be eligible to pass standard pre-employment screenings, including drug screen and DOT physical (if required)
- The role involves working in a mobile, outside and/or shop environment with exposure to dust, diesel fumes, noise, and mechanical materials such as oils and greases
- Technicians must be able to perform essential job functions that include frequent movement such as standing, walking, climbing, bending, and sitting for extended periods, as well as lifting heavy objects and accessing tight or confined spaces
- This position requires regular use of hands to grasp, reach, handle, and operate tools and equipment
- Technicians may be required to work at heights using ladders or elevated platforms and must be able to safely perform duties in various weather conditions
- The ability to see and hear sufficiently to safely navigate the workspace is required

Pay & Schedule
- Pay: $34.00 - $59.00/hour (based on experience)
- Pay frequency: Weekly pay - every Friday
- Open shifts: Friday - Tuesday 200pm - 1030pm OR Saturday - Wednesday 1000pm-630am
Sunday - Thursday 600am-230pm OR Saturday - Wednesday 600am-230am

What You’ll Do
