About the role
The Peabody School is seeking a talented Extended Term Substitute (ETS) Kindergarten Teacher to join our caring and innovative learning community through November 2025. The successful candidate will plan, implement, and adapt curriculum based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and the Common Core, setting high expectations and using scaffolding and differentiation to support all students. The role requires an appreciation of the unique developmental needs of young learners and a commitment to continuous professional growth aligned with Peabody School’s educational goals.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members, including special educators, instructional coaches, paraprofessionals, interventionists, and other support personnel
- Incorporate a variety of assessment strategies, including district-wide exams and formative assessments, to inform instruction and target intervention and enrichment needs
- Integrate social learning into the classroom to foster a safe, caring, and active learning community
- Partner with families to include them in students’ learning and development, encouraging their support of the school’s mission
- Build on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- At least two years of full-time classroom instruction
- Massachusetts State Early Childhood certification required
- Experience working in an urban educational setting preferred, including the ability to work successfully with students, colleagues, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds
- Strong work ethic and commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel
