Estimator (Utility-Scale Renewables) - EVERGREEN

ENGIE is seeking Estimators to support the development and execution of utility-scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across North America. This evergreen opportunity identifies talent at the Estimator II and Senior Estimator levels, with placement determined by experience, technical knowledge, and demonstrated scope of responsibility.

About the role

As part of the estimating team, you will develop Balance of Plant (BOP) construction estimates that support project feasibility, budgeting, development, and execution. You will collaborate with Engineering, Construction, Project Management, contractors, suppliers, and other partners to evaluate scope, develop pricing, assess cost impacts, and provide reliable construction cost information throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Prepare budgetary and indicative BOP construction estimates for utility-scale wind, solar, and BESS projects, including detailed scope takeoffs
• Develop unit pricing using production rates, subcontractor and supplier input, historical cost data, indexes, and productivity information
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, conceptual layouts, maps, and equipment information to determine scope and estimate requirements
• Evaluate major equipment specifications and new technologies to identify potential construction cost impacts
• Review third-party pricing and contractor proposals for accuracy, completeness, assumptions, and scope gaps
• Maintain estimating documentation and historical cost information to support consistent and scalable estimating practices
• Partner with Engineering, Construction, Project Management, contractors, and suppliers to provide cost information supporting project feasibility and execution

Requirements

• Four-year degree or an equivalent combination of technical training and relevant construction estimating experience
• Minimum two (2) years of relevant construction estimating experience for Estimator II consideration; minimum five (5) years for Senior Estimator consideration, with level also determined by scope, complexity, and ownership of responsibilities
• Experience estimating construction costs for utility-scale renewable energy, power, heavy civil, or comparable infrastructure projects; direct BOP estimating experience for wind, solar, and/or BESS is strongly preferred
• Experience with HeavyBid or other heavy-construction estimating software and electronic cost-data resources such as RSMeans
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, maps, conceptual designs, and equipment information to develop complete estimates
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills; GIS, AutoCAD, or equivalent experience is a plus
• Ability to develop productive relationships with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams
• Available to travel domestically up to 10% of the time, including occasional overnight travel
• Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and clean driving record to operate company, hire, or rental vehicles as needed for site visits
• Willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
• Able to conduct site visits, attend project site meetings, and walk renewable energy project sites for extended periods in varying weather conditions

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan.
