Description
Join the RK team as an Estimator where your expertise directly impacts winning work and successful project execution. You’ll play a key role in developing accurate, competitive trade-specific estimates, collaborating with sales, preconstruction, and field teams, and shaping project strategy through scope analysis and value engineering.
Summary Of Duties
Provide complete and accurate trade specific estimates. Assemble Bid Tab with estimates and vendor/sub quotes. Coordinate and clarify scope internally and externally. Identify value engineering opportunities and fill in minor design/scope gaps.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Must have solid understanding of estimation process.
- Review project documents.
- Identify scope of work.
- Material, labor, and equipment takeoffs.
- Job site visits as needed.
- Identify and document difficult/non-standard conditions.
- Collapse scope with Preconstruction Team to identify and fill scope gaps.
- Clarify scope with General Contractor and Engineer.
- Obtain quotes and coordinate/qualify scope with vendors and subcontractors.
- Completely assemble the Bid Tab in a timely manner.
- Provide value engineering ideas.
- Verify estimate accuracy by comparing data versus similar bids.
- File electronic documents.
- Participate in turnover process to Operations.
- Liaison between Estimating and Field Operations.
- Follow up on past awards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Accountability
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Prompt, punctual, and regular attendance during core business hours, in an office environment (not a telecommuting position), currently located in the Central Park area of Denver, including a reliable means of transport to and from work.
- Able to occasionally travel between corporate offices and jobsites within the Denver Metro Area, during work hours.
- All employees are accountable for safety and health and are empowered to stop work if an unsafe condition is present. Employees should immediately notify their supervisor so that the hazard may be corrected.
- Indirect supervision.
- Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation/modification of standards.
- Devises new solutions to problems encountered.
- Independently performs most assignments with instruction.
- Receives guidance for unusual or complex problems and supervisor approval for changes in standards.
Minimum Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.
- Sometimes required to: reach, stoop, or kneel.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
- Work outside, inside, and in dusty, noisy and hazardous areas.
- Climb, balance, squat, kneel and crouch.
- Work in all types of weather.
Qualifications
- Proficient computer and typing skills.
- Fully competent in all conventional aspects of subject matter or functional area.
- 3+ years of relevant experience.
- College/university graduate or equivalent combination of skills and experience generally expected for specified technical roles.
