Estimator - Senior

This position is the third level in our Estimating track, responsible for creating and managing estimates across residential, commercial, and industrial lines of business. You will meet with clients, develop competitive estimates using Xactimate software, manage work through completion, review budgets, and communicate progress with clients and management.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate scopes with minimal over/under scopes
• Develop accurate floor plans and multi-level/roof sketches in Xactimate Sketch
• Apply working knowledge of applicable building codes
• Create and adhere to acceptable budgets, addressing overages as they arise
• Use BELFOR naming conventions for estimates, revised estimates, proposals, and change orders
• Maintain a construction schedule and collaborate with trades and management to ensure timely completion
• Identify and propose solutions when additional resources are needed
• Demonstrate proficiency in source removal, decontamination, mitigation, containment, ventilation, contents, and deodorization techniques
• Perform investigative demolition, controlled demolition, decontamination structure cleaning, and deodorization services
• Participate in BELFOR University training, including Xactimate certification (passing score of 85% required)
• Independently manage your workload
• Maintain vehicle safety, cleanliness, and serviceability
• Complete accident, injury, and incident reporting forms promptly
• Expand and maintain a local clientele base (primarily insurance adjusters) to refer losses, with a book of business of approximately $2M–$4M
• Serve as the primary contact for owners, adjusters, and consultants
• Develop scopes, negotiate, and reach agreements with customers
• Use BELFOR standard formatting for estimates
• Coordinate after-hours emergency services (e.g., board-ups, water/fire/smoke damage, vandalism)
• Consistently identify potential site hazards (asbestos, lead paint, mold, etc.)
• Maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times
• Be proactive and immediately responsive to information requests
• Apply industry TPA Program standards and ensure compliance
• Work under time constraints to meet specific deadlines
• Attend BELFOR-sponsored operations and safety training as required

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in construction, restoration, or contents estimating
• Residential estimating experience in excess of $50,000 and commercial estimating experience up to $100,000
• Successful completion of BELFOR Estimating Platform Level 1 and 2 user certification
• Successful completion of Xactimate Intermediate training class
• National rate and material invoicing experience
• English literacy and fluency
• Understanding of MSDS data sheets and their applicability to jobs
• Use of BELFOR Estimate Format Standards for Xactimate estimates and proposals
• Extensive customer service experience
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills and Xactimate proficiency
• Professional demeanor, appearance, and excellent telephone skills
• Ability to work well with others and maintain professional interactions with co-workers and vendors
