Estimator/Project Manager

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Estimator/Project Manager with a current base of clients. In this position, you will handle sales and operations support, including site visits, fieldwork, job costing, obtaining quotes, building proposals, job walks, and project management. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage and maintain customer relationships. The goal is to ensure all projects are delivered on time, according to requirements, within budget, and with excellent customer service. This position offers base pay plus commission.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed, accurate plan take-offs or site evaluations for concrete construction, maintenance, and restoration.
• Analyze and review construction plans, addendums, and details for accurate plan takeoff.
• Review and present estimates to the sales manager, sales team, and clients.
• Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings to understand project scope.
• Ensure the estimating process runs smoothly, promptly, and efficiently while meeting client expectations throughout pre-bid, bid, and construction.
• Oversee projects from start to finish by developing and updating a master project schedule communicated to subcontractors, suppliers, owners, and superintendents.
• Establish project subcontract requirements and review them with the sales manager.
• Ensure all subcontract work aligns with the project's scope and specifications.
• Monitor projects to ensure compliance with company and regulatory procedures.
• Oversee change order pricing and justifications; ensure change orders are approved in writing before work begins and invoiced promptly upon completion.
• Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, and client/owner representatives to identify project issues and assist field superintendents in developing solutions.
• Review field construction activity and other project support tasks with the field superintendent to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Prepare detailed site maps showing the location and scope of work for customer proposals.
• Take photos of existing conditions during site evaluations.
• Oversee the general collections process to ensure timely payment.
• Monitor project purchasing activities to ensure quality material delivery at competitive costs.

Requirements

• Current base of clients.
• Minimum of 5 years of sales/estimating experience.
• Strong relationships with asphalt and concrete customers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and employees.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, growing environment with a sense of urgency.
• Resourcefulness in handling stressful situations and problem-solving.
• Clean driving record.
• Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and multitasking abilities.
• Strong math skills with an analytical mind and knowledge of geometry.
• Experience in the construction trade (preferred).
• Project management experience (preferred).
• Trustworthy, accountable, and dependable.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) (preferred).
• Basic knowledge of current ADA standards.
