ESTIMATOR / PROJECT MANAGER

About the role

Responsible for administering awarded project contracts. This includes analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation, and planning, directing, and coordinating activities to ensure projects are safely completed on time and within budget. The role also involves consulting with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. Effective communication (both written and verbal) to all levels within and outside the organization is essential.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
• Reviews project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
• Establishes work plan and staffing; arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
• Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
• Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel.
• Provides technical advice and resolves problems with project personnel.
• Analyzes blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for products, projects, or services.
• Reviews data to determine material and labor requirements and prepares itemized lists.
• Consults with clients, vendors, and other individuals to provide cost factors and formulate estimates.
• Administers negotiated contracts and coordinates activities of awarded bid proposals.
• Tracks contract performance and troubleshoots production problems (material quality, equipment operation/repair, etc.).
• Monitors and discusses production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
• Ensures compliance with DOT, MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DNR, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Prioritizes safety and takes action to prevent unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
• Some travel may be required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• BS degree in Construction Management or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 2 years of project management experience.
• Ability to provide and maintain proper licensure, medical card, and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime, possible nights, and some Saturdays.

Preferred Qualifications

• HCSS software experience preferred.
• Fluency in Microsoft Office.
• 2-4 year degree in construction management or engineering from an accredited college or equivalent.
