Estimator - Mid Atlantic

Duties and Responsibilities

• Evaluate proposals, specifications, and construction documents to understand the project as a whole
• Work closely with the construction project manager to oversee and coordinate the bid process for vendors and subcontractors
• Determine time, labor, construction materials, and product costs to determine overall cost for construction projects
• Produce written proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and updates for clients and project managers
• Visit construction sites to obtain necessary client requirement information
• Provide accurate quantity takeoff information to provide a detailed list of materials and assess the total construction costs
• Follow up with clients on submitted proposals and budgets

Qualifications & Required Skills

• Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or an Associate’s Degree in Construction Management, or a related field or equivalent field experience
• Be organized and detail oriented, with an ability to properly manage their time by prioritizing tasks
• Be analytical and possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and writing, and be able to interact and collaborate with coworkers, clients, and outside vendors
• Be self-motivated and committed
• Be proficient, or capable of becoming proficient, in various software applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), Bluebeam, SmartBid and On Screen Takeoff, etc.
• Have the capability to learn new software applications specific to the industry, such as those necessary for estimating and scheduling, as well as project management and project controls

Physical Requirements

• Candidates must be aware of the physical demands of the construction industry and may be required to perform physical labor and other strenuous tasks necessary to the successful completion of projects
• Candidates must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
• Candidates may be required to sit and stand for periods of time and travel significant distances in a given day
• Candidates must be capable of performing tasks that may require bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing and crawling
• Candidates must have the ability to work in all weather conditions

Pay Range

Annual Salary $70,000 - $110,000 (bonus potential)
