About the Role

The Flooring Estimator plays a critical role in supporting project planning and execution by ensuring accurate material take-offs and cost estimates for flooring projects. This position works closely with internal teams and vendors to gather project details, analyze specifications, and deliver timely and accurate proposals. Success in this role means estimates are completed accurately and on time, project requirements are clearly understood, and materials are aligned to support operational and customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate material take-offs and cost estimates for flooring projects based on plans, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, bid documents, and project revisions to ensure estimates reflect current project scope.
  • Coordinate with vendors to obtain pricing and ensure estimates are aligned with current material costs.
  • Develop and maintain estimating templates to support consistency and efficiency across projects.
  • Utilize estimating software and Microsoft Excel to generate proposals and maintain accurate records.
  • Monitor and respond to estimate requests, ensuring timely delivery of proposals to support project timelines.
  • Manage multiple estimating assignments while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams to clarify project requirements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized documentation for all estimates, including revisions and change orders.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, including safety and compliance standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, or relevant work experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic estimating tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in flooring, construction, or building materials estimation.
  • Familiarity with estimating software or project management systems.
  • Experience working with vendor pricing or procurement processes.
  • Experience in flooring estimation is helpful but not required. We are willing to train candidates who demonstrate strong attention to detail, reliability, and a willingness to learn.

  • Lifting/Carrying: Occasionally lifts and/or moves items weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Mobility: Frequently required to remain in a stationary position and move throughout the office or job site to access materials, plans, and equipment.
  • Positioning: Occasionally required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Manual Dexterity: Frequently operates a computer and other office equipment, including keyboard, mouse, and phone.
  • Vision: Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and computer screens, and to identify discrepancies in documents and materials.

Work Environment

  • Office/Facility: Work is primarily performed in a professional, climate-controlled office environment with moderate noise levels (e.g., computers, phones, and light foot traffic).
  • Job Site/Field: May require occasional visits to job sites with exposure to outdoor conditions, seasonal weather, and varying terrain.
  • Operational Demands: Role may require meeting deadlines and working in a fast-paced environment to support estimating and project timelines.
  • Safety: Requires adherence to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when visiting job sites.

Pay

Pay Range: $30.00 plus commission
